'Wash your hands to avoid pain.'
Filipinos are quite fond of catchy slogans with plenty of health awareness initiatives in the Philippines having used catchphrases in the past to drill into the public consciousness about the importance of things like vaccinations. I had help from my dad to come up with this phrase, and I hope it helps reinforce the message to frequently wash hands, and maintain good hygiene. I wanted to use this opportunity to connect my culture and my creative passions to create something that can help my community.

Posters are being sold with proceeds going to the not for profit organisation Connection Art Space. Connection Art Space works with artists from migrant and asylum seeker backgrounds to host exhibitions and workshops in the city of Greater Dandenong, Victoria. Greater Dandenong is one of the most culturally diverse municipalities in all of Australia, with 2/3 of residents speaking a language other than English at home. Connection Art Space’s values of diversity and community align with those of Mistranslations and we hope to support their plight through the sale of our posters.
