Mike Kirkpatrick/Pat Luangsangthong
'Avoid kissing and hugging'
We believe in the initiative put forward by Re, and wanted to test out the idea that is both phonetically and visually engaging. Our poster aims to not only translate well, but to also double translate through the use of shapes, languages and colours. The COVID-19 instructions have become catchphrases in English, and with the same effect, we hope our poster can begin to engage with the Thai community.

Posters are being sold with proceeds going to the not for profit organisation Connection Art Space. Connection Art Space works with artists from migrant and asylum seeker backgrounds to host exhibitions and workshops in the city of Greater Dandenong, Victoria. Greater Dandenong is one of the most culturally diverse municipalities in all of Australia, with 2/3 of residents speaking a language other than English at home. Connection Art Space’s values of diversity and community align with those of Mistranslations and we hope to support their plight through the sale of our posters.
